Maybe this time

Two weeks ago, I did room boards for a particular living room built around a gray sectional. This week, I'm back, still unable to tell you about the house, but having played and put together room boards for a linen sectional. Because this is what I do when I cannot sleep. Sometimes the excitement causes an inability to sleep.

This one got a big "no." Because it's too fancy and impractical. It is not Rock Hudson or Doris Day. Maybe some Elizabeth Taylor with some Nate Berkus. I suwannee, who would not want to have an old fashioned in this room at the end of the day. Especially with a roaring fire and Charlie Hunnam.

And let me just direct this to the masses of Fifty Shades of Grey people, whether they are excited about the casting of Christian Grey or not. Charlie Hunnam was Nicholas Nickleby in a movie of the same name in 2002, and I have loved him since. I watched him on Queer as Folk and I obsessed over him 365 days a year from Sons of Anarchy. I forced my children to sit through Pacific Rim, and told them that was their new daddy. I am an original fan, a superfan, and I feel very proprietary toward this particular actor. He's about to blow up, and everybody will know who he is, and he will become the man of many women's fantasies, but I will cut you. Because I was here first. And the early bird gets claim to Charlie Hunnam.

I'm glad we understand each other. So you can find your own fantasy with whom you'll pretend to romp around on this pelt rug.

This is also a "no" because it is the "price is not an issue" living room design. But LUXE.

Now, IF we were going with the linen sectional I pitched, this is more up their alley. I threw a tufted leather ottoman in there to make the room more masculine against the ginger jars, because "irreconcilable differences over an addiction to porcelain" might be stated in my divorce papers. You gotta give a little, take a little....

I always get excited when I send someone recommendations on a rug, a chair, a headboard, a DIY project to improve furniture, or an entire room, and something brings enthusiasm. They loved this one, in another "if price was not a concern" world. A $400 floor lamp is not a reality for a twenty-something couple. This also reflects more of what I would do with my own money in my own home, so it was the easiest to put together.

What we are actually working with is a far departure from any of the four rooms I put together here. Think "leather sofa." It will ultimately take some of the best parts of each - some of the colors from the crazy room, the cottage core of the French country room, the richness of the gold, and the practicality and traditionally intimate design of the navy and emerald.

Also, I think I found myself a little project while I twiddle my thumbs (idle hands) waiting on my house to sell. The major furniture refinishes would interfere with the staging of the house, but I found a furniture hack I love, and a non-critical piece of furniture I that could use the facelift. We're headed to a family wedding in California in a few weeks, so it may have to wait until I get back, since all available funding is being funneled towards perfect accessorization (not a word) for the wedding festivities.

If you're not following the "Tara" board on Pinterest, hang your head in shame.
